In Zambia, formal KAIZEN promotion started in 2009 with the support from JICA firstly amongst manufactures, under the auspices of Zambia Association of Manufactures.
In 2010 Government through MCTI requested JICA to promote Kaizen widely in Zambia. From 2010 to 2013, JICA KAIZEN support was provided under the Triangle of Hope (ToH) Project. In 2013 the National KAIZEN Project was conceived and operationalised in 2014. The operationalisation of the Project included establishment of the KAIZEN Institute of Zambia Limited (KiZ)as a company limited by guarantee whose members are the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) and Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.
KAIZEN promotion activities consist of KAIZEN Awareness Creation, Coaching and holding of the National KAIZEN Conference. Since 2010, except for the years, 2014 to 2016, KAIZEN Conferences have been held with increased participation of practitioners and observers.
